2010 predictions

Predictions are never easy but if you think about the sentiment behind them its almost always better and more accurate than the specific predictions themselves.

Take for example the classic predictive video featuring the Googlezon

it hasn't quite come true but the recent friction between Newscorp and Google highlights the issues contained in the video coming to a head.

Here is a prediction for 2010 on mobile and hyper-connectivity - let's see how much of the sentiment is about to come true.

Some more future gazing

I found a few interesting videos on the BBC Technology pages showcasing developments in retail, living, dining etc for the near future. Most of them seem to be developed by German's, oh well maybe its the technology equivalent of the towel on the deck chair.

Here are the links to 4 short videos (sadly the BBC hasn't quite grasped the concept of allowing people to embed their videos yet but perhaps that is in another video called the BBc of the Future - let's hope so).

Looking Forward at NY

This time of year its traditional to look back and see what has been the biggest selling single or most popular selling gadget etc. just turn on your tv or radio and it is all that appears to be on.

So why don't we spend more time looking forward? Well its more expensive to make tv programs that look forward, and there is a risk you might look stupid if what you say doesn't come to fruition, but on a personal note its also more effort, and we are all lazy.

Here is an amazing video on you tube looking at some stats for the near future, its quite good fun and very interesting and who cares if some are not exactly right but its enough to stop and make you think about tomorrow, or next year or the next 5 years.
