This is awesome
Always a sucker for slow motion film, somehow it makes even the most mundane things extraordinary. In this case however its something quite spectacular - a lighting storm slowed down, and unusually there is about 3 minutes of footage. Enjoy.

Sky - The Ashes and online coverage
Hat's off to Sky who earlier this year got a few blog comments mentioning they had missed an opportunity to maximise their ashes coverage to the at work audience.
Last night I got this email - that said something like - you do not have to miss the ashes is you are at work tomorrow..

and now today I can watch live at work - very cool

New Media Guru
Working in digital you have to have a sense of humor this is an awesome spoof and reminds me and everyone else not to get too up ourselves.

You have to love a guru joke and Father Pop up is a brilliant incarnation. Taking the piss out of all the buzz words and new memes it is great fun - I love hte description of AR.

If you work in Customer Service Remember the name Dave Carroll
I love this story that Faris just posted about a Country & Western Singer - Dave Carroll who had his guitar broken by baggage handlers from United Airlines. Having had a very bad experience myself with Unite Airlines I am not surprised.
Dave says: Full Story: http://www.davecarrollmusic.com/story... -
In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didn't deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United: Song 1 is the first of those songs. United: Song 2 has been written and video production is underway. United: Song 3 is coming. I promise. Follow me at http://twitter.com/DaveCarroll
It looks like Dave has been on TV a lot stateside - the cynical side of me thinks this is not a bad publicity stunt for him and his band? We'll see.
A real Man Bites Dog moment - I love it when big corporations take people for granted and get bitten. I bet Ms. Irlweg is regretting not helping him out now. In one day his video has been viewed nearly 400,000 times, has 7,000 favorites and has over 3,000 comments - nice one.

Hopefully customer service teams are being briefed on this all over the world and they will change their behavior - but I doubt it.

Google Wants you to get involved with Chrome
A year or two back they ran a competition very successfully btw to get people to visualize how an Gmail traveled around the world.
Well now they are asking people to get involved in making a video of the chrome logo - see the video for a taster.
Interesting to see how this goes and how many people get involved but a nice simple idea. Will be good to see what turns up.

Awesome Music Video
Got to admire this video on several fronts. Essentially very cheap to make. Very brave girls. Very funny watching the public's reaction. Very few Gaelic shrugs to be seen and quite a lot of jaws dropping and eyes bulging.
Most of all though a very effective and very efficient way of distributing your content very quickly. I expect this to go around the web like wild fire - I wonder if it will translate in to sales or fame for the artist, the song, the street or the girls?

How many times did they swear in the Sopranos?
Probably a lot I'd say, and most other people would probably agree.
NJ gangsters probably have an propensity to swear a lot especially fictional ones. You would have thought that might be enough for most people but someone has taken a lot of time to put every single swear word together in a video in chronological order as they appeared in the series.
Fuck seems to be the word of choice with a smattering of shit, and the odd c word - but can you guess how long the video is - bearing in mind there were 6 series and 6 episodes per series - 36 hours of footage: 27 minutes that is just over 1% of the series devoted to prophanity.
Some how the little boy inside me still thinks this is funny - why I'm not sure.

Getting Video out of You Tube
I read something a month or two back about You Tube making it easier to get videos out of the site, I expect this is horribly out of date post but I found this service called KeepVid through a colleague and thought it worth mentioning if any of you ever need it.

It's probably a spin off from the fact that they have launched a iPhone service and therefore have to save out the videos as mp4 format anyway.
So its a nice example to show how some progress sometimes leads to exponential progress - not only serving the iphone but making it easier for everyone else who wants to show a youtube video in a ppt presentation for example - I like it that is good karma.

Computer Tan
Hats off (but sun tan lotion on) to McCann for this sweet campaign. I saw a digital cross track poster showing the trailer this morning at Oxford Circus tube station and I wrote the url down as it was clearly intriguing and a spoof.
Watch it and go to the site

What a great campaign nicely executed and with a serious message - I didn't know what it was for but it was interesting and I just had to wait to the end to see. Clearly a good cause, and an equally good campaign.
I'm sure there will be an iphone app, and I like the integration of the webcam functionality which more and more people are using in campaigns to capture real consumer reaction, and participation.

You Tube Interactive Game
I just saw this on Digg - you can play Street Fighter II on You tube with a series of linked video's that respond to interactive buttons in the video.
This is very cool, a bit clunky but once you press the key - it loads up another video (there are 100 videos on the sequence) and it then shows your attack. If you fail to press a button in a certain time then the opponent video plays.
Really nice application of interactive video technology, and lots of hard work - over 500k+ views in less than 4 days tells me its worked.

A Morning 'Cuppa' that really is music to your ears
Just saw this on Ted.com looks great fun. I love a morning cup of Tea like every self respecting Brit but this is on another level.
